Description

The book follows the story of Rodion Raskolnikov, a destitute and intellectually ambitious student in St. Petersburg. Overwhelmed by poverty and a desire for greatness, he rationalizes and commits a brutal murder of an old pawnbroker. Raskolnikov grapples with guilt, paranoia, and a tense psychological struggle as he evades suspicion from the investigator, Porfiry Petrovich. As the plot unfolds, Raskolnikov becomes entangled with Sonia, a pious and compassionate woman, and his internal turmoil intensifies. The novel delves into themes of morality, redemption, and the psychological torment of a man torn between his actions and his conscience.
